USS Abraham Lincoln
The USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) is a Nimitz-class aircraft carrier in the United States Navy, serving as the flagship of Carrier Strike Group 3 and host to Carrier Air Wing Nine. She was commissioned on November 11, 1989, and has a home port of NAS North Island, San Diego, California. The ship has undergone a Refueling and Complex Overhaul (RCOH) and was returned to the fleet on May 12, 2017. As of August 10, 2024, the USS Abraham Lincoln and her strike group are deployed to the Middle East in response to tensions between Iran and Israel. The ship has a history of notable deployments, including supporting Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm, participating in the largest peacetime evacuation of military personnel and their families in history during Operation Fiery Vigil, and flying air patrols over Mogadishu in support of Operation Restore Hope.learn more on wikipedia
