Sharia is a body of religious law in Islam that is based on scriptures of the Qur'an and hadith. It is a set of immutable, divine laws that have been interpreted and developed over the centuries by Islamic scholars. Sharia has been used alongside customary law throughout Islamic history and has been implemented by judges in courts, but has largely been replaced by secular law in recent times.
