Roland Garros
The French Open is a tennis tournament held annually at Stade Roland Garros in Paris, France, and is the second of the four Grand Slam tennis events every year. The tournament begins in late May and continues for two weeks, and is named after the French aviator Roland Garros. It is the premier clay court championship in the world, and the only Grand Slam tournament held on this surface. The French Open has a long history, dating back to 1891, when it was known as the Championnat de France and was only open to tennis players who were members of French clubs. Over the years, the tournament has expanded to include international players and has been held at various venues, including the current Stade de Roland Garros, which was built in 1928.learn more on wikipedia
