River Jordan
The Jordan River is a 251-kilometre-long endorheic river in the Levant that flows roughly north to south through the Sea of Galilee and drains to the Dead Sea. It passes by or through Jordan, Syria, Israel, and the Palestinian territories, with Jordan and the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights bordering it to the east, and Israel and the Israeli-occupied West Bank lying to its west. The river has significant importance in Judaism and Christianity, with the Israelites crossing it into the Promised Land and Jesus being baptized in it. The name "Jordan" is derived from the Semitic word "Yardon", which means "flow down", and cognates of the word can be found in various Semitic languages, including Aramaic, Hebrew, Mandaic, and others.learn more on wikipedia
