Ramon Airbase
The Ramon Airbase is an Israeli Air Force base located in the Negev desert, approximately 50 km south of Beersheba and 20 km northwest of the town Mitzpe Ramon. It was built between 1979 and 1982 by US companies as a replacement for the four Israeli bases on the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt. The base has undergone various upgrades and expansions, including the introduction of F-16I Sufa fighter jets and AH-64D Apache Longbow Saraf attack helicopters. Today, Ramon Airbase is one of the most active and powerful bases of the Israeli Air Force, with three squadrons of F-16I Sufa fighter jets and two squadrons of AH-64A/D Apache attack helicopters. The base is known for its extensive training facilities and regularly hosts international partners for exercises, such as the Blue Flag exercise held every two years at the Ovda Airbase.learn more on wikipedia
