Qatargate
The Qatari connection affair, also known as "Qatargate," is a scandal in Israel involving allegations that close advisors to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and a lieutenant colonel in the reserves were paid by Qatar to promote its interests in the country. The investigation, conducted by Shin Bet and the Israel Police, was sparked by leaked documents alleging that Qatar planned to pay up to $50 million to the Likud party, which Netanyahu leads. The scandal has resulted in the arrests of at least two of Netanyahu's top aides, and opposition leaders have called for an investigation into Netanyahu and his staff. The affair has also led to the dismissal of Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar, with some attributing the reason to the Qatargate investigation.learn more on wikipedia
