Promised Land
The Promised Land is a concept in Abrahamic religions, including Judaism and Christianity, referring to Middle Eastern land in the Levant promised and given to Abraham and his descendants by God. The concept originates from the Hebrew text of the Torah, which describes God's promises to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in several verses of Genesis. The promises include the "borders of the Land" and the "land flowing with milk and honey", and are later confirmed to Isaac and Jacob. Jewish interpretation views the promise as applying to all members of the Jewish people, while Christian interpretation reinterprets the descent and promise along religious lines, with Paul the Apostle understanding the promise to refer to Jesus. The concept has also been applied to other lands, including America, which was seen by many European colonists as a haven from persecution and a "Promised Land".learn more on wikipedia
