Princess Bride
The Princess Bride is a 1973 fantasy romance novel by William Goldman, presented as an abridgment of a longer work by fictional author S. Morgenstern. The book combines elements of comedy, adventure, fantasy, drama, romance, and fairy tale. It follows the story of Buttercup, a young woman in the country of Florin, who falls in love with a poor farm boy named Westley. After Westley goes to seek his fortune, he is presumed dead and Buttercup is betrothed to Prince Humperdinck. However, she is kidnapped by a group of outlaws and rescued by a mysterious man in black, who fights a duel with the leader of the outlaws and later a wrestling match with the group's giant member. The novel was adapted into a 1987 feature film and has become a cult classic, inspiring a collection of essays on the novel and film published in 2015.learn more on wikipedia
