Panmunjom Truce Village
The Joint Security Area (JSA) is a 800-meter wide enclave in the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) where North and South Korean forces stand face-to-face. The JSA has been the site of numerous events and incidents since its establishment in 1953, including the repatriation of prisoners of war and military negotiations between North Korea and the United Nations Command. In 2018, North and South Korean officials agreed to clear the JSA of all landmines, weapons, and guard posts, and the area is now used mainly as a tourist attraction. The JSA is located about 800 meters south of the original village of Panmunjom and is administered by the United Nations Command. The area has undergone several changes in its layout over the years, with some buildings removed, new ones constructed, and existing ones renovated. The JSA is now demilitarized and has 35 unarmed security guards on duty at any given time.learn more on wikipedia
