Palm Sunday
Palm Sunday is the Christian moveable feast that occurs on the Sunday before Easter, commemorating Christ's triumphal entry into Jerusalem as described in the four canonical Gospels. The feast is marked by the blessing and distribution of palm branches, often woven into crosses, which are taken by Christians to their homes and hung alongside Christian art or kept in Bibles and devotional books. In the days leading up to Lent, churches collect and ritually burn these palms, using the ashes to make ashes for Ash Wednesday. The event is based on the accounts of Jesus' entry into Jerusalem, where he rode a donkey, and the crowd laid down their cloaks and branches in front of him, singing Psalms 118:25-26. The symbolism of the donkey may refer to its association with peace, contrasting with the horse, which represents war.learn more on wikipedia
