Mount Kumgang

Mount Kumgang, also known as Geumgangsan, is a mountain massif with a peak of 1,638 meters, located in North Korea's Kangwon-do province on the east coast. The mountain is part of the Taebaek mountain range and is approximately 50 kilometers from the South Korean city of Sokcho. The area is known for its scenic beauty and has been the subject of many works of art, with seasonal names including Kŭmgangsan (spring), Pongraesan (summer), Phung'aksan (autumn), and Kaegolsan (winter). The mountain's geological formation is unique due to its climate and geological activity, with granites and granite-gneissic rocks forming the terrain.
