Mindanao Island
Mindanao is the second-largest island in the Philippines, located in the southern region of the archipelago, with a population of 26.2 million people as of 2020. The island is divided into six administrative regions and is home to various ethnic groups, with around 70% of the population identifying as Christian and 24% as Muslim. Mindanao is considered the major breadbasket of the Philippines and has a rich history dating back to the prehistoric era, with evidence of human activity dating back around 10,000 years. The island was heavily influenced by Hindu and Buddhist cultures from Indonesia and Malaysia, with the introduction of Indianized scripts, cultural icons, and art forms, before eventually converting to Islam in the 14th century.learn more on wikipedia
