Mezzeh Air Base

Mezzeh Air Base was an air base of the former Syrian Air Force located in Mezzeh, Damascus, Syria. It had one 8,258 foot long runway and played a significant role in distributing the government's military supplies. The base was used by Syria's elite Republican Guards, Special Forces and Air Force Intelligence, and also served as a private airport for the al-Assad family. The base was used to fire rockets and artillery at rebellious Sunni Muslim neighborhoods during the Syrian civil war and was also used as a prison to imprison opponents, where acts of torture and possible war crimes were committed.learn more on wikipedia
