Medicaid
Medicaid is a US government program providing health insurance to low-income and disabled individuals, funded by both federal and state governments. The program covers approximately 85 million people as of 2022, including children, low-income adults, and individuals with disabilities, with states determining eligibility and benefits. The program's costs are significant, with the federal government contributing $375 billion and states an additional $230 billion in 2017. Medicaid also covers long-term services and supports, such as nursing home care and home- and community-based services. It offers elder care benefits not typically covered by Medicare, and dual health plans for individuals with both Medicaid and Medicare. Research has shown that the existence of the Medicaid program improves health outcomes and provides economic benefits to states and health providers.learn more on wikipedia
