Kakhovka Reservoir

The Kakhovka Reservoir was a water reservoir on the Dnieper River in Ukraine, created in 1956 by the Kakhovka Dam at Nova Kakhovka. It was breached on June 6, 2023, after being mined and blown by Russian forces, leading to the reservoir being completely dry by the end of June. The reservoir covered an area of 2,155 km2, was 240 km long, and had a total water volume of 18.2 km3. It was used for hydroelectric stations, irrigation systems, and supplying the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, as well as freshwater fish farms and canals.
