J-10

The Chengdu J-10 is a Chinese medium-weight, single-engine, multirole combat aircraft with a maximum speed of Mach 1.8, produced by the Chengdu Aircraft Corporation for the People's Liberation Army Air Force and Navy, and exported to the Pakistan Air Force. The J-10 is mainly designed for air-to-air combat, but can also perform strike missions, and is considered to be a 4.5-generation fighter jet. The aircraft's development was initiated in 1981 with a proposal from PLAAF Commander Zhang Tingfa, and was selected from design proposals made by three major aircraft design institutes. The J-10 features a delta wing and canard design, and incorporates modern development and acquisition processes, including the use of digital design, modelling, and testing.
