Giro D'Italia

The Giro d'Italia is an annual multiple-stage bicycle race primarily held in Italy, starting in, or passing through, other countries. The first race was organized in 1909 by La Gazzetta dello Sport to increase sales of the newspaper, and has been held annually since, except during the two world wars. The Giro is a UCI World Tour event, with teams competing in the race being mostly UCI WorldTeams, and is one of the three-week-long Grand Tours in professional cycling.
