Dumfries House
Dumfries House is a Palladian country house in Ayrshire, Scotland, owned by The King's Foundation, a charity that maintains it as a visitor attraction and hospitality and wedding venue. The house and gardens are listed as significant aspects of Scottish heritage. The present house was built in the 1750s for William Dalrymple, 5th Earl of Dumfries, by John and Robert Adam, and has remained in the same family until 2007, when it was purchased by a consortium headed by the Prince of Wales, who renovated the estate to preserve it and regenerate the local economy. The house reopened in 2008 and has since been used for various purposes, including education, employment, and funding the trust's running costs. The house is a category A listed building and the grounds are included in the Inventory of Gardens and Designed Landscapes in Scotland.learn more on wikipedia
