Cold War
The Cold War was a period of geopolitical tension between the United States and the Soviet Union and their respective allies, the Western Bloc and the Eastern Bloc, that lasted from 1947 to 1991. It was characterized by an ideological and geopolitical struggle for global influence, with the two superpowers supporting opposing sides in major regional conflicts, known as proxy wars, and engaging in indirect competition through psychological warfare, propaganda, espionage, and technological competitions. The Western Bloc was led by the United States, while the Eastern Bloc was led by the Soviet Union, with the Soviet Union having a command economy and installing communist regimes in its satellite states. The Cold War began with the Truman Doctrine in 1947 and ended with the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991.learn more on wikipedia
