The Humanitarian Parole for Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Venezuelans, also known as the CHNV Program, was a US government initiative implemented in 2022-2023 to provide temporary residency to citizens of these countries and their immediate family members who had been crossing the US-Mexico border in large numbers. The program allowed a combined total of 30,000 individuals per month to enter the US on a two-year parole, subject to sponsorship by a US-based individual. The program was modeled after the Uniting for Ukraine program and was credited with reducing the number of migrants from these countries crossing the border by over 90%.
