Beita Junction
Beita is a Palestinian town in the Nablus Governorate of the West Bank, with a population of 11,682 in 2017. The town has a long history dating back to the Roman era, with many houses and archaeological sites still intact. Beita has been under Israeli occupation since 1967, during which time more than 77 villagers have been shot dead by Israeli forces, including 7 killed in 2021 during protests against an Israeli outpost on Beita lands. The town has a mayor, Arab ash-Shurafa, who was elected in 2004, and contains four mosques and three clinics. Beita has a complex history, with evidence of human habitation dating back to the Iron Age, and has been part of various empires and territories, including the Ottoman Empire, the British Mandate, and Jordan.learn more on wikipedia
