Android
Android is a mobile operating system based on a modified version of the Linux kernel and open-source software, designed for touchscreen devices such as smartphones and tablets. It was unveiled in 2007 and the first commercial device, the HTC Dream, was launched in 2008. The operating system is known as the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) and is free and open-source, but most devices run on the proprietary version developed by Google, which includes additional software such as Google Mobile Services. Over 70% of Android devices run Google's ecosystem, with some vendors offering customized user interfaces and software suites. Android has been the best-selling OS worldwide on smartphones since 2011 and on tablets since 2013, with over three billion monthly active users as of 2021 and 1.7 million apps on the Google Play Store as of 2024.learn more on wikipedia
