AR-924
The Gold Apollo AR924 is a compact, alphanumeric one-way pager produced by Gold Apollo, a Taiwanese company, featuring a 4-line LCD screen, 4 buttons with two-way scrolling, and a removable lithium battery with up to 85 days of battery life. The pager allows users to store up to 30 messages with a maximum length of 100 characters and has a data transfer rate of 512/1200/2400 bps for POCSAG. In 2024, 260,000 sets of pagers were exported, including over 40,000 between January and August. On September 17, 2024, approximately 5,000 AR924 pagers exploded in Lebanon and Syria, killing 11 people and injuring over 2,750, with some 500 Hezbollah members reportedly losing their eyesight. Gold Apollo's founder stated that the company did not manufacture the pagers involved in the explosions, but rather its partner BAC Consulting KFT, a Hungarian company, under a license agreement.learn more on wikipedia
