Vice‑President J.D. Vance was scheduled to travel to Switzerland on Friday to meet Iranian negotiators, but the talks were abruptly cancelled. Israeli air strikes over southern Lebanon during the night resulted in at least 16 fatalities.
This is the kind of thing that could cause a worldwide depression.
The only way I can get tougher is if I go in there for another two or three weeks and continue to bomb the hell out of 'em. Right? But what does that get us? The Strait of Hormuz will not be open.
The problem for Israel is not Donald J Trump, and anybody in Israel who thinks their biggest problem is the president of the United States needs to wake up and smell the reality of the situation that country is in.
If I was in the cabinet of the Israeli government, I might not be attacking the only powerful ally that I have anywhere left in the entire world.
What the president has grown frustrated with at times, is that we seem to be right on the cusp of a major breakthrough in the agreement, and then all of a sudden, there's a major explosion that goes off in a civilian population centre in Beirut, and a lot of people who have nothing to do with Hezbollah lose their lives.
We look forward to beginning technical talks as soon as possible.
The logistics of these negotiations have never been simple or predictable. As of now the vice-president is not departing tonight.
If the American side wants to be too demanding, we will not accept it.
If the enemy seeks to be excessive, we have proven that our fingers are on the trigger and we have no hesitation in giving a crushing response to the enemy.
In case of misconduct, breach of treaty and excess of the other side, we have no doubt that decisive response will be given to the enemy.
