Twelve people killed in Shaanxi province bridge collapse following heavy flooding and storms

A highway bridge in Shangluo, Shaanxi province, China collapsed on Friday evening due to a sudden downpour and flash floods. At least 11 people have been confirmed dead after being found inside five vehicles recovered from the water. The incident occurred at approximately 8:40 pm when the bridge buckled, causing multiple vehicles to fall into the river below. According to initial investigations, 17 cars and eight trucks were involved in the accident, with at least 31 people still missing. Rescue teams have been working to recover more vehicles and bodies from the river. The Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for "all-out efforts" to find those still missing.
