Russia arrests US citizen over alleged charitable donation to Ukraine
A 33-year-old US-Russian dual citizen, identified as Ksenia Khavana, was arrested in Yekaterinburg, Russia, on charges of treason. According to the Russian Federal Security Service, she is accused of providing financial assistance to foreign organizations that are acting against Russia. Specifically, she is alleged to have transferred approximately $51 (£40) to a Ukrainian charity in February 2022. The White House has stated that they are seeking information regarding the situation. Khavana could face up to 20 years in prison if found guilty under Article 275 of Russia's criminal code. Russian media have reported on her arrest and released footage showing her being handcuffed and escorted out of a building, as well as standing inside a glass courtroom cage.
