Israeli Protesters Block Roads Demanding Gaza Deal
Protests in Israel against the ongoing war with Hamas began on July 7, with demonstrators taking to the streets across the country. The nationwide "disruption day" started at 6:29 am, coinciding with the anniversary of Hamas' October 7 attack on southern Israel that sparked the conflict. Protesters blocked major intersections and highways, including setting fire to tires on the Tel Aviv-Jerusalem highway before police intervened. Some demonstrators chanted slogans such as "we will not give up" and called for an end to the war. The protests continued into a second day, with police increasing security around Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's residence in Jerusalem. Meanwhile, mediators launched new truce talks between Israel and Hamas in an effort to bring an end to the conflict.
